Mercury Associates’ services under LogWorld are designed to help increase efficiency and reduce the costs associated with the acquisition, allocation, utilization, maintenance, and management of vehicles and equipment. Federal agencies worldwide can use LogWorld to procure logistics and fleet management consulting and support services. The estimated value of the contract is $2.5 million over five years. The LogWorld Schedule includes pre-negotiated rates and reduces the lead time and administrative costs for government organizations to contract with industry experts, and because Mercury Associates is a small business, government agencies can also gain points toward their small business goals by contracting for Mercury Associates’ services. “Mercury Associates consultants are former public and commercial fleet managers with extensive consulting experience. Federal Fleet Management According to the GSA Office of Governmentwide Policy, in 2005 the U.S. federal government operated more than 630,000 vehicles and used over 366 million gallons of fuel, which resulted in an overall federal fleet cost to taxpayers of $3.5 billion. Recognizing that fuel and operating costs are on the rise while agency budgets remain tight, some federal agencies have taken steps to improve the management of their large fleets of vehicles. Mercury Associates recently assisted GSA, NASA, the U.S. Marine Corps, the Smithsonian Institution and other agencies with their efforts to make significant management improvements to the growing federal fleet, which increased approximately 6% from 2000 to 2005.
